Position Summary:

As a Sustaining Engineering Manager, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining the excellence of our Neurodiagnostic, Neuromonitoring, and Sleep Diagnostic solutions. Cadwell, a leading medical device manufacturing company, invites you to apply your engineering expertise to elevate our world-class products. In this role, based at our Kennewick, WA headquarters, you'll lead a team to bridge the gap between R&D and Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Service departments, providing essential technical support.
 Key Duties / Responsibilities:
  • Manage a cross-functional team of sustaining engineers and technicians
  • Manage the team that investigates and resolves electronic circuit issues and field failures meticulously. Implement comprehensive root-cause analysis and direct corrective measures to ensure sustained product reliability.
  • Manage the development and systematic approach to electronic component selection, documentation, and qualification. Ensure adherence to stringent quality and performance standards. Address component obsolescence by identifying viable alternatives from alternative suppliers.
  • Manage new product introduction with a team that verifies product functionality, designs and fabricates assembly and test fixtures, and helps develop automated test software.
  • Manage the offering of specialized engineering support to Manufacturing and Service departments. Facilitate failure analysis and streamline the seamless transition of designs into production. Contribute to the development and maintenance of robust test procedures.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to production and service personnel, leveraging your troubleshooting expertise to enhance team capabilities.
  • Actively participate in cross-functional engineering project teams, delivering reliably on project objectives and timelines.
  • Engage in rigorous verification and testing of both new and existing projects. Collaborate closely with Operations Engineering to optimize product quality and performance.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in medical safety and EMC standards, conducting necessary electrical and mechanical safety tests to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to hardware design and software development endeavors as required to bolster sustaining engineering efforts
  • Be responsible for the Engineering Change Process, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Undertake additional duties as required, directed, or assigned by the management.
Education / Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electronics manufacturing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in analog and digital circuit design and troubleshooting.
  • Minimum of 10 years managing a team. 
 
Job Knowledge / Requirements:
  • Thorough understanding of advanced component design, integration, electronics principles, and design and development standards.
  • Proficiency in PCB design principles, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within dynamic team environments, effectively managing shifting requirements and priorities.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including MS Office, Google applications, query tools, database systems. Familiarity with Altium, and Solidworks a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the capacity to articulate, present, and document complex technical concepts and issues effectively.
  • Solution-oriented and professional demeanor in all interactions with colleagues and customers.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites and safety/EMC labs as necessary to troubleshoot problems and support testing.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
  • General office positions may require some reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, standing, walking, sitting, hearing, visual acuity, color vision and 2-way written/verbal communication.   • Potential of travel; must be able to obtain necessary travel documents 
  • Work hours outside normal business hours may be required to meet business needs
